AN OPEN LETTER TO ROGER GOODELL
To: Roger Goodell, Commissioner of the National Football League
From: Taylor Caby and Andrew Wiggins, co-founders of DraftDay, Inc.
Re: Check the replay. The NFL intercepted DraftDay.
Dear Commissioner Goodell,
You can imagine our surprise when we visited NFL.com today and learned of the 2012 "NFL Perfect Challenge", a contest that offers fantasy football fans the opportunity to win $1,000,000 if a winner picks the "perfect fantasy lineup."
We think NFL fans will love the idea of drafting a new fantasy team each week. The thrill of using their fantasy skills to win big money -- that's great! That's exactly why we've been running this same contest at DraftDay since September, 2011.
What's more, a Super Bowl ad promoting the concept? Fantastic! We've been trying to figure out how to create awareness for our weekly fantasy sports games, we just don't have $3.5 million laying around.
We're not alleging unsportsmanlike conduct (wasn't that lockout just about all the disagreement you can stand?) or lipreading the opposing team (we're on the same side, Commissioner). We understand that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Consider us flattered.
Best wishes for a successful fantasy football contest during the 2012 NFL season,
Taylor Caby and Andrew Wiggins,
DraftDay, Inc.
P.S. In case you're more of a visual guy, we created a graphic comparing DraftDay and the NFL at www.draftday.com/letter-to-nfl.
