What is DraftDay?

Thanks for asking. DraftDay is a *daily* fantasy sports website. Users draft players each day to make up their fantasy teams, which then compete in free or real money games. Keep in mind that you're only drafting players for ONE DAY of fantasy action — tomorrow you'll draft a whole new team, hence the title "daily fantasy sports." Points are awarded based on the individual performances of each player, and then we add up those points to determine the team score and to award cash prizes. Available games include daily fantasy football, baseball, basketball, and hockey.

What are Daily Fantasy Sports?

Traditionally, fantasy sports teams stay together over the course of an entire season. In Daily Fantasy Sports, players draft a team and accumulate points based on how those players perform in tonight's games only. You're not bound to your fantasy team for the whole season, and you can start over with a whole new group of players tomorrow. It's all very zen — at DraftDay, we only live in the here and now of fantasy.

Is DraftDay legal?

Yessir. All DraftDay games are legal in the United States, pursuant to the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. Unfortunately, we can't offer real money games to residents of six states/territories with extraordinary regulations related to lotteries, sweepstakes, contests, and games. These states/territories are Arizona, Iowa, Louisiana, Montana, Vermont and Puerto Rico. For more details please visit http://www.draftday.com/legal

Who can play at DraftDay?

All U.S. Residents are eligible to open DraftDay accounts except for residents of Arizona, Iowa, Louisiana, Montana, Vermont and Puerto Rico. Canadian residents can also play at DraftDay except for residents of Quebec. For more details please visit http://www.draftday.com/legal

How are my funds held?

We rigorously segregate player balances from funds used for operations, so you can rest 100% sure that you'll have access at all times to the money you have on DraftDay.

What are the rules for DraftDay chat?

We encourage our players to use our chat. The abuse of our chat will result in temporary or permanent suspension of chat privileges. Reasons you might lose your chat privileges include: spamming, verbally attacking other players, providing misinformation to sabotage others, and using improper language. DraftDay reserves the right to suspend a player's chat privileges at any time. And, when in doubt, just remember Dalton's (Patrick Swayze) simple rule from "Road House": "Be nice."

REGISTRATION / ACCOUNT / DEPOSITS / WITHDRAWALS

What’s the process for account sign-up and deposit like?

To create an account, go to the DraftDay homepage and enter the necessary information in the sign-up box. You'll receive an email containing a confirmation link, which you can then click to activate your new account (You know, the usual drill). When prompted, create a password for your new account.

To make a deposit, log in and select the green ‘Deposit’ link to the right of your account balance. Choose a deposit method (we accept PayPal and all major credit cards) and enter the amount you'd like to deposit. The minimum deposit is $10 and the maximum deposit is $1,000.

How do I link my DraftDay account to Facebook?

To link an existing DraftDay account to your Facebook profile, login and go to your "My Account" page. From there, click "Link to Facebook." Next, "allow" DraftDay to access your basic info from Facebook. Once the linking is properly done, the text on your account page should change to say "Linked with Facebook." Now everyone will know we're buds, and soon we'll start showing up to all your raging parties and stuff.

How much do games cost?

DraftDay offers a wide variety of real-money games, with buy-ins ranging from $1 to $200. Prizes vary depending on the number of entrants. Click on a game and visit its individual page for details on the payouts for that specific game. In the event of a tie, the prize will be divided between the two (or more) top scoring entrants.

When do funds get credited to my account from a game I've won?

We consider games completed after we receive all final box scores from the relevant real-life sporting contests. Once this occurs, funds will be credited to the winning accounts post-haste.

How do I withdraw my money?

Head to your "My Account" page and select the “CashOut” button. Choose your cashout method (PayPal or check) and enter the necessary information. Withdrawal requests must meet a minimum of $20. For cashouts of $600 or more, we require a valid mailing address and a social security number, as we're legally obligated to report your winnings to the IRS as gambling proceeds.

Where is my Draftday bonus?

All DraftDay bonuses are added to pending bonus accounts, which we use to keep track of the bonuses to which you're entitled. These bonuses are incrementally released as you play in real-money games on DraftDay.

Are bonuses eligible for cash out?

Bonuses are released using an incremental method, so you'll receive the bonus total in smaller amounts, over time, as you play in our real-money games. Once released into your DraftDay account, bonus funds are eligible for cashout just like any other funds.

How are bonuses earned/released?

OK, we'll get into the nitty-gritty now. Bonuses are earned using an incremental method of release in which we count 4 percent of your buy-in for any given game towards the release of your pending bonuses. For example, if you enter a $20 game, you'll release $0.80 in available bonuses if you have any($20 x 0.04 = $0.80). Bonuses are released into your account whenever you accumulate $1 or more in earned bonus money.

We also stack your bonuses. What this means is that a player can have multiple bonuses in their pending account, and can release money from all of the bonuses simultaneously. So, if a player has four pending bonuses of $25 each, then using the $20 example from above, that player will earn $0.80 from EACH pending bonus by entering a single $20 game — effectively earning $3.20 in bonus funds. Pretty slick, huh?

Where can I go to retrieve a lost or forgotten username/password?

Go to the Login page and click on the “Forgot Password” link. An email with a link to reset the password will be sent to the account holder's email address.

Can an account be closed?

We'd miss you terribly if you left, but please send a request to support@draftday.com to have your account closed. If you must.

GAMES / RULES / FEATURES

What types of games are offered at DraftDay?

At DraftDay we have several different game formats available:

Standard Games – These games require a specified number of entrants to run. If the game doesn't completely fill by the scheduled start time, we'll cancel the game and refund all entry fees to the users’ accounts.

Guaranteed Games We guarantee the prize pool for these featured games, and we'll start the contest on-schedule and pay it out in full regardless of the number of entrants.

Hit It & Split It These games specify a target point total for your team. All teams that meet or exceed this point total share the prize pool equally. (See further explanation below.)

Jackpot - A more demanding version of Hit It & Split It where players aim to achieve the highest point total for the season so far in the given sport. (As with HI&SI, see further explanation below.)

Turbo Turbo games only include players from the teams playing in the early games.

Fifty-Fifty Fifty-Fifty games split the resulting prize pool among the top 50% of the finishers.

Modified Salary Cap Modified Salary Cap games offer different starting salary amounts for drafting lineups. The salary cap for these games may be more or less than the cap in a standard DraftDay game.

AL/NL Only Games Pretty self-explanatory. AL/NL-only games are fantasy MLB games that only incorporate players from either the American League or the National League.

When do games get cancelled or voided?

If a game doesn't fill with enough entrants, we'll cancel the game and the buy-ins will be refunded to players' accounts. We hate to do this, but we don't want to start a game unless we can pay out the prize pool that all the players expected when they signed up. Our Guaranteed Games are the exception to .

How many simultaneous games can I enter on DraftDay?

How many does thine heart desire? There's your answer. We place no limit on the number of games an account holder can enter at DraftDay, as long as you've got the available funds.

What’s a multi-entry game?

In multi-entry games, players have the option of entering a game more than once and submitting multiple lineups. Each extra lineup costs an additional entry fee and is scored as a separate entry.

Can a lineup be imported into multiple games?

Nope, you've gotta do every duplicate lineup by hand just like your surly old grandpappy did. And if you complain about it one more time, we'll rap your knuckles with a meterstick. We're kidding! Simply click the “Import Lineup” button to see the existing lineups you have available to import into your current game.

Can a player view their DraftDay history?

Definitely. All of your play history, results, past rosters and opponents are available under the “My Games” link next to your account balance. Don't spend too much time staring at it and get all "What does it all mean?" on us.

Can a player view their transaction history?

Yes. Go to your “My Account” page and click the ‘Transactions’ button to see an audit of all your deposits, withdrawals, game entries, and game winnings.

Can I edit a lineup I've already submitted?

Indeed. Lineups remain open for editing until the game commences at the start of the first relevant real-life sporting event.

Are opponents’ lineups available for view?

No. Players' lineups always remain hidden until after the game begins, in order to ensure the integrity of the game.

How are players who have bye weeks or injuries listed?

We list players that are probable to participate and omit players who may be on a bye week. We also mark players who may be injured with a “+” icon, which you can roll over for a brief status update. Sadly, coaches and sports teams don't always make our job easy; sometimes, no one from the public knows exactly who will play until they're out there on the field (or not). We do our best for you, but DraftDay can't guarantee that a player will start or play, even if they're listed in the draft screen. If you notice a mistake in a player's injury status, please report it by submitting a notice to support@draftday.com.

How do you determine a player's injury status?

Our injury icons are supplied through a feed from STATS, Inc. While they're accurate most of the time, we can't guarantee 100% accuracy. Please make sure to check player notes within a player profile for further information. You're always welcome to consult a third party source for injury updates as well.

Can the same athlete play on a team that I draft as well as an opponent's if we're entered in the same game?

DraftDay uses the salary cap method of drafting, so a player can (and often will) be selected on multiple teams in the same game.

Can I get more information on players I'm considering drafting?

Look at you, you little research hound. You should be a paralegal or something. Click the name of any listed player and a pop-up window will appear. This window will include their recent fantasy scores, more in-depth statistics, injury updates and news about the player.

How is the salary cap determined for each player?

Each player's salary is calculated and regularly updated using a formula that factors in their past performances and future projections. MLB, NBA and NHL salaries are recalculated daily and NFL salaries are recalculated weekly.

What happens if any of the sporting events are postponed or cancelled?

If it happens that a sporting event is postponed or delayed, players from those games will not contribute any fantasy points to their owners' lineups.

How are scoring revisions handled?

We receive a final box score from our stats provider. This final box score will determine the final fantasy score in a DraftDay game.

How are double-headers handled?

The scoring method for double-headers is as follows:

If you draft an athlete playing in a doubleheader, we'll use his stats from his first game of the day as long as your DraftDay game starts before the doubleheader starts. If your DraftDay game starts after the first game of the doubleheader, then we'll use stats from the second game to calculate your player's fantasy score.

If a player does not participate in the first game of a doubleheader, then his stats from the second game will be used by default. However, if a player doesn't play in the second game of a doubleheader, you can't "go back" and use his stats from the first game of the day if your DraftDay game started later than that game.

How does a Hit It & Split It game work?

Each day, players must meet or exceed the stated target score to win a HI&SI game. All players that "hit" this fantasy score will "split" the prize pool equally (hence...). If no player achieves a qualifying score, no players will receive any payout and the unclaimed prize pool will be added to a future Hit It & Split It game (We never pocket unpaid prize money from these games). Players who entered the first game will not necessarily be guaranteed a spot in this future game.

What about the Jackpot game?

Our Jackpot game is a more demanding version of Hit It & Split It. A player's goal in a Jackpot game is to obtain the highest score for the given sport thus far for the entire fantasy season. If nobody in a Jackpot contest achieves this feat, the entire prize pool (the Jackpot) will remain unclaimed and we'll add it to the prizepool of the next Jackpot contest for that sport. And if a Jackpot goes unclaimed at the end of the season of a particular fantasy sport, then we'll add that prize pool into a traditional Hit It & Split It game for the next active fantasy sport (We'll never keep the Jackpot prizepool for ourselves in the event that no one wins).

What is the DraftDay $5 Challenge?

Each player receives ONE DraftDay $5 Challenge entry on us when they invite a player to play against them in a Free $5 Challenge on DraftDay. In order to earn more entries, they must refer NEW players to DraftDay and have them sign up through the account creation process. Any attempt to create multiple accounts or refer others under false pretenses will result in account closure, confiscation of proceeds from fraudulent entries and permanent ban from the site. $5 Challenge winners must put their $5 into play on DraftDay within 45 days of winning, or DraftDay reserves the right to debit the $5 from their account.
